VietNamNet Bridge – The beauty contest officially began on June 22 with the traditional costume competition. The eighty-one competitors drew the eyes of the audience with their beauty and their unique costumes.

The top ten traditional costumes

The costume of Miss Albania, Matilda Mecini, has the colours of the Albanian national flag and it was redesigned based on the costume of Albanian hero Skanderbeg.

Miss Colombia, Taliana Vargas, wore a hand-made, colourful traditional costume decorated with Chaquira beads.

Miss Dominican Republic, Marianne Cruz, wore a costume inspired by baseball, the most popular sport in her country. The costume is white, red, blue and silver like the Dominican flag, with hand-made embroidered patterns.

Miss India, Simran Kaur Mundi, was in a silk costume with Farukhabad patterns and ancient gold coins.

Miss Kosova, Zana Krasniqi, wore a costume named dallame, which is a wedding gown.

Miss Mexico, Elisa Najera, wore an outfit inspired by Chichen Itza, an ancient temple of the Maya Civilisation.

Miss South Africa, Tansey Coetzee, was in an impressive costume decorated with Swarovski crystal beads, peacock and ostrich feathers.

Miss Peru, Karol Castillo, wore a traditional costume of Peruvian natives worn during the festival to honour Machu-Picchu.

The costume of Miss Venezuela, Dayana Mendoza, is made of stone, crystal and acrylic. Inspired by the costumes of women in the Amazon, the costume includes guayuco (traditional gown) and a feather scarf.

Miss Vietnam, Nguyễn Thùy Lam, wore an ao dai named “Crane’s dance”, which reproduces the ao dai of Queen Nam Phuong of the Nguyen Dynasty, with hand-made embroidered patterns, crystals, etc.
