reflecting on my week -- friday favorites

As I pondered this week
the up and downs and good and bads
i looked for those little moments of joy
found in the everyday.
Life.

friday favorite things | finding joy

Elijah Nathaniel
look at those eyes
love that boy

 of course he was looking at me like that because I was making him look at me
instead of him looking through the bushes
at those big red dump trucks
parked in front of his window

and taking shots of those dump trucks while sitting on your front steps
 watching your little ones laugh in excitement
while you wave a thanks to the construction workers who drove extra close to your yard.

black eyed susans
I have them everywhere
of course they tend to grow almost anywhere
sigh, I just like to feel like the pro-gardener :)

finding little girls
hanging in trees in the back yard

and again peeking at my raspberries
taken at dusk
and noticing (again) that there are no berries
but, that's okay, because my little boys loved every. single. one.

thankful for my tomatoes that are ripening
and, shhhhhh, I might have just ate one of those outside
in one of those walks around the yard
of course, it was a red one

arriving at ballet 15 minutes early
and then using the 14 minutes that remains to take a quick cat nap

taking a moment to rest
and to have quiet
 by the weeding the front walk
or the back step -- don't you love my red handle?

one of my favorites of all time
ice cream
in beautiful bowls with hot fudge and nuts
tell me, what's your favorite ice cream?

And me, not caring about a messy room
but enjoying brothers playing together
content

Gracie's precision and details in
the beauty of colored pencils
so artfully arranged

talking with the mri tech about your seven kids
and telling them, as their injecting dye into your shoulder, how blessed you are to be a mom
and then chuckling as you blame the bum shoulder on carrying the kids around
which, of course, you'd do in a heartbeat again

I love being a mom
I'm grateful to be mom.
And to carry each of them.

it's friday again -- time for some favorites -- wk 20

I'm resting and not moving around much today.
And in resting I realized that this is week 20 for (friday favorites)
Can you believe it? I love the joy that it brings week after week.

So now, as I rest, it's time for me to share some of my favorites.

friday favorite things | finding joy

Friends
I cannot get over how blessed I've been this week by my friends

From vacationing in Hilton Head
with Amy, Julie and Susie
sitting at the edge of the ocean chatting
{those are my feet}

to spending my day sharing life
with sweet sweet Carissa
{from lowercase letters}
who became friends with my already friends
{how could I not share this picture just one more time?}

{again, me top left corner and Carissa bottom right corner}

to having my dear, super-star neighbor friend, Maria
(here she is finally -- love her -- my dear, dear friend)
drop everything to take me to my doctor appointments
and arriving at my door with a Caribou coffee for me as well.

to Julie taking my boys
and driving me to the soccer jamboree
(look at that boy with his medal -- it's real steel, mom -- that's what he told me)

to phone calls and encouragement

and tweet prayers
and blog prayers
and amazing email prayers

All of it leaves me grateful.

Love the gluten free fudge popsicles that Chloe made

and Hannah documenting Samuel sitting on our front steps

to silly oversized hospital robes and gowns
and me in my nervous state -- prior to my epidural injection -- taking a picture

ha haha -- who does that? -- probably only me
and probably just to calm me down
cause I look terrified

not being too old to paint
especially a paint by numbers
{which I did in Hilton Head}
it says -- 8 to 88 -- and I fit in that age group

and this adorable little boy of mine
Caleb
who prays for my shoulder every night
--God, please heal my momma--

beautiful doors in Charleston
full of memories

naptime
not just for the little boys
but for me

Reading

{via}

I read Sarah's Key while in Hilton Head
A very hard read, but worth reading
it left me grateful
and thinking
Any other book recommendations for me? I've got to keep busy....

the simple beauty of strawberries

for a doctor's steady hand yesterday
yes, yes, yes so grateful for that

and for a beautiful love note tree
made by my wonderful children
Hannah, Chloe, Grace, Brennan
Caleb, Elijah and Samuel
when i was in Hilton Head

Oh, my, I love my family.
So so so much.

Really.
They're a gift from God.

an ocean friday favorites

Real short.
Real sweet.

It's my last full day at the ocean.
I'm loving my time here
but am also looking so forward to going home.

Favorites.

The great company of friends
and a beautiful beach to share it with

Good food
make that amazing food

Dolphin cruises at noon

Beautiful harbors
to stroll along

Morning walks along the beach
collecting shells

Watching the waves crash in with the morning sun
and
writing names in the sand

singing praises in the ocean at night
while gazing up at the stars

Thankful for Hilton Head
Thankful

the grateful {friday} favorites

This week has been hard.
In fact, as I sat in the back of a tow-truck watching our Saturn get towed
{the one we were all using until we could get the big truck fixed}
I began to think about how this week really is the antithesis of last week.

But, I refuse to dwell on the hard stuff that's on my plate.
Or the collection of non-working vehicles in my driveway.
{editing to add that the Saturn is fixed -- it was just the battery}

I'm going to be grateful.

friday favorite things | finding joy

Grateful {again} for my friend Maria
who dropped everything to meet me at Target in the rain
and brought Chloe home and helped out
as Todd and I waited for the tow truck

rain

AAA Insurance
if you don't have it you need to get it
as they have free towing

Twitter
the encouragement and the Bible Verses sent
{dozens}

and for
#coffeeandteaatrachels
{happens almost every morning}

Hugs with Samuel

Thinking of last week's vacation.

And a beautiful daughter, Hannah, who documented it oh, so beautifully

Of little Samuel sitting in his blue car
in the trailer of our stuff parked in the Pizza Hut parking lot

while we were waiting for everyone to leave the building

Or time on the boat

Or at the park

And fellowship at fireworks
celebrating freedom

Or at the beach.

For my family
yes, my wonderful awesome grateful "i couldn't live without them" family

Yep, I'm grateful.
{and linking with what is on your heart }
Especially now that we're all stuck at home
waiting for a vehicle {hopefully it's just a battery} to be fixed.

"you have to love vacation" friday favorites

It's my last day here at the lake.
{and that, sigh, is not a favorite}

So I'm going to share a couple of my favorite moments from the week.
And to celebrate vacation I asked several bloggers
to share some of their favorite vacation spots
as part of today's {friday} favorites.

friday favorite things | finding joy

Enjoy and make sure to share yours as well!

My favorites?

Little boys eating Dum-Dum suckers

and multiple piles of floating contraptions

and the view

almost as if time is frozen

It's been a good week.

Make that a great week.

and to celebrate vacation here are some favorite
"you have to love vacation"
from some other sweet blogger friends
their pictures and their words
beautiful.

Think of the Swiss Family Robinson.  Only without the wreckage part.

My honey, my family and I sailed from islands to and fro all around the Atlantic.

From Tortola to Anegada, it was the trip of a lifetime.  There were seven of us on a 36 foot sailboat.  It was close quarters but it certainly added to the fun.

The trip was full of adventure and lots of joy.  We made memories that will last forever!

I adore spending quality time with my four favorite people..
.being able to have no schedule, eat delicious seafood, and soak up the sun.

It's comforting that Destin is beginning to feel like a home away from home as we get more familiar with the area and find our "favorites."

You just can't beat this view!
